As locals continue to play their part, while Christmas 2020 may not be the festive season we are used to enjoying in the capital, Dublin still brings a little magic at this time of the year.
As Dublin continues to ease open, it's time to rediscover the places on our doorstep we haven't been in a while! We will be sharing numerous ways you can support local businesses this Christmas through hampers, vouchers and more on our social media accounts. Make sure to follow along.
The Kiosk in Dun Laoghaire is our official tourism information desk providing comprehensive information to inspire visits around the vibrant county, assist with trip planning and offer the most up to date relevant information to you during level 3 restrictions.
Whether it's a family day out or a weekend break, escape the city centre to explore the stunning coastline views and Dublin Mountain activities on offer.
Our winter opening hours are as follows:
Monday & Tuesday: 11am to 4pm
Wednesday - Sunday: 10am to 5pm.
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown is illuminated this Christmas to spread light and joy right across the county. An Cathaoirleach Cllr. Una Power joined Santa this weekend to officially switch on the lights.
Santa Post Boxes are in place at dlr LexIcon in Dún Laoghaire, Marlay Park in Rathfarnham, Deerpark in Mount Merrion and Cabinteely Park by special commission of Santa Claus. The extra Santa post boxes are in place to encourage children to post their letters early this year so the elves have plenty of time to make presents.
As well as this, the beautifully illuminated forest walk at Marlay Park was recently launched. The one-kilometre trail is a lovely compliment to the Tree of Hope and is fully accessible for wheelchairs and buggies and is an oasis of calm beneath the twinkling lights.
We're delighted to be able to offer funding for multiple towns and villages around Dun Laoghaire - Rathdown to further decorate local areas around the county. We can't wait to see this come to fruition over the coming festive season.

We are delighted to have been chosen in 2019 to take part in the Tourism Friendly Cities Project. We are one of 9 other cities chosen by Urbact to take part in the programme, alongside cities such as Genoa (Italy), Venice (Italy), Dubrovnik (Croatia) and Krakow (Poland).
The Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Coastal Region has been chosen as our focus for the project. A roadmap has been created to set out how the ULG will proceed with their work for the project, which can be found here.
While we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Dun Laoghaire - Rathdown, please remember to stay safe, stay local and make sure to check in on those around you.
We would like to take this chance to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all from dlr Tourism.
